Title: Entry #2, Pages 29-57 of The Motorcycle Diaries.
After actually reading part of the book, I am a little disappointed that none of my predictions have come true. I will still look for anything that may fit my predictions that were made earlier on in the book. So far, the worst thing that Che’s done is steal some wine, which isn’t anything like what the introduction of the book lead me to believe he did.
During the trip, Che accidently kills a dog when his mistakes it for a puma (53). This makes me think, is this something he will do in the future? Will Che see something only mildly harmful, and will he destroy it because he thinks it is pure evil? Or will the “glimpse of his destiny,” (17)  be the reaction of the generous caretaker’s wife, who lost something she loved? Another thing in the book that caught my attention was that during the book, Che was sick (40). So sick, in fact, that he had to stop and rest in a hospital for many days. I’m thinking that a possible “glimpse of his destiny,” is that he too will heal the sick. Since Che did study medicine (33), it’s not impossible.
On another subject, on page 43, several Argentinian farmers are unwilling to associate themselves with Che and Alberto because of a class difference. And this is what was expected of Argentinean citizens. In the book there is obviously class tension, and it’s widespread too. This social tension may play an important role in later chapters.
